Who am I?

I'm Richard, I live in Bradford, Yorkshire in the North of England. I am married to Rev. Joy.  We first met in a chat room on AOL in 1999, and met in person for the first time in March 2000, and a year later we were married at Holy Trinity Church, Idle in June 2001. (who says internet relationships can't work?)  As well as being a housewife, Joy is also the creative genius of JoyBunnysArtDesigns.
We have an ever-expanding menagerie, which currently includes a cat, called Purrdy; 2 gerbils; several fish; frogs; various species of stick insects; several species of praying mantids; cockroaches, locusts; crickets; not forgetting any bugs and beetles I bring home from work!  I also sponsor a dog called Mojo with The Dogs Trust.

Site History

The "HawkinzWeb" site is now on its fourth incarnation.  The first site was only 5 pages in size, and was created in 1998 by a shareware website editor whose time-limited demo sadly expired, and the software publisher had sold the program to another company.  The second site was created in 1999 under Microsoft Publisher (again as a time-limited demo) and was then subsequently maintained and updated using Netscape Composer.  It was during this time that I learned the rudiments of the principles of html (and site planning).  In 2000 this site was sadly taken down from it's host due to unforseen problems resulting in my being unable to update the account often enough.  The third site was created in 2002 under Netscape Composer, but soon lost its way due to changes in my personal circumstances.  In 2004 this site was created, now using Microsoft FrontPage.

Hobbies & Interests

Although I am not particualrly "sporty" I enjoy skiing, and since my first (disastrous) ski holiday in 1996 have been back several times for my annual seven days attempted suicide on the ski slopes of Europe.  I spent New Years Eve 1999 partying in New Millenium (ahem) in Les Deux Alpes, France!  I also enjoy cycling, and have participated in several sponsored bike rides including the London-Brighton.
I enjoy a good read, and most lunchtimes can be found deep in a book; favourite authors include Tom Clancy, Terry Pratchett, Dick Francis, Isaac Asimov and Colin Forbes.
My computer is probably the "hobby" that takes up most of my time. As well playing the odd game - I am currently playing Pharaoh by Sierra; I have recently taken to reassembling old PC's to get a better idea of what goes on inside them.  I have also been involved in various websites, although usually they suffer from more enthusiasm than dedication and slowly fall by the wayside.  in addition to this site I am also currently working on a church signs site and a jokes site.  I did create a website about our wedding; but sadly Geocities, in their infinite wisdom, decided to remove it without warning one day.
